Who is Allah? Definition and Attributes of God in Islam

He is the First and the Last, the Most High and Most Near, and He has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things - Holy Quran 57:3

Who is Allah in Islam?

shahada
Shahada-the Islamic Testimony of Faith means that ”I testify that they there is no God except Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah”.

According to Islam, God is one and he alone is the master of all that exists in this Universe and beyond. Holy Quran refers to God as Allah which means “The God” and says that he is the light of heaven and earth (Quran 24:35)

As per Islam, Allah is is the ultimate creator of each and everything that exists and consequently the ultimate sovereign of the universe.

Further, Islam provides that Allah has let known his guidance to humankind throughout ages via numerous saints, sages and Prophets, peace be upon them all. Holy Quran says that Allah has sent saints and messengers to every community and nation inviting them to truth, to worship one God and shun falsehood.

And We certainly sent a Messenger to every community and nation saying: “Worship God, and shun false deities”. Then among them were some whom Allah guided, and among them were some who deserved to be left to stray. So travel through the land and see the end of those who denied the truth. Holy Quran 16:36

Amongst the many attributes of Allah mentioned in the Holy Quran is that he is the most merciful and most beneficent. Almost every chapter of the Holy Quran begin with the invocation of the mercy and compassion of Allah.

Some other oft-repeated attributes of Allah mentioned in the Holy Quran are that he is all-powerful, merciful, swift in the reckoning, the owner of sovereignty and honor, and beyond human comprehension.

Why Submission to Allah?

Islam asks Human beings to submit and surrender themselves to Allah.

Say, “What has been revealed to me is this: ‘Your God is only One God.’ Will you then submit?” Holy Quran 21:108

Whoever fully submits themselves to Allah and is a good-doer, they have certainly grasped the firmest hand-hold. And with Allah rests the outcome of ˹all˺ affairs. 31:22

And who is better in faith than those who ˹fully˺ submit themselves to Allah, do good, and follow the Way of Abraham, the upright? Allah chose Abraham as a close friend. 4:125

There can be both theological and secular explanation behind submission. Theologically, the reason for submission is quite clear. We have to submit because our creator commands us to do so. We owe our existence to him and we live in his domain.

To draw an analogy, one submits (in a narrower sense) to the laws and authorities of a country where one lives in and also takes oath of allegiance before occupying public offices of that country.

If one does not do so or undermines that allegiance or loyalty to his mother state, one is regarded as traitor, rebellious and is disqualified from top public offices no matter how progressive, talented, well-mannered or helpful that person is.

The greater Submission to God also connotes humbleness and equity. It is egalitarian because it undermines the arbitrary sense of superiority amongst humans on lines like race, caste, knowledge, etc (one of the prime reasons behind historic injustices, discrimination and human conflicts).

It perpetuates a sense of realisation that regardless of our our race, caste, wealth, knowledge, etc, we are not supreme and cannot expect others to submit before us. Only God can do so.

Thus, in Islam all those who who submit before God are thus equal in status as brothers in faith notwithstanding their worldly status.

Commenting on, Allama Iqbal once wrote a shining eulogy for Sultan Mahmud Ghazni and his slave Ayaz.

Ek hi saf mein khade ho gae Mahmud wa Ayaz, na koi banda raha na koi banda nawaz. Banda-o-Sahib-o-Mohtaj-o-Ghani ek huye, teri sarkar mein pahunche toh sabhi ek huye. (When Sultan Mahmud Ghazni and his slave Ayaz stood side by side in the Mosque, it was as though no difference remained between the Emperor and the Slave. Both the Rich and the Poor became one after entering your sublime dominion.)”

Thus, when a human being submits himself to Allah sincerely, he tends to abandon all his worthless superiority complex, arrogance, whims, and fancies in worldly affairs.

Consequently, he will do good for others and will not take unfair advantage of others to further his own futile material interests as he is now aware of the purpose of this transient worldy life which even from non-believer’s perspective is uncertain and beyond one’s control.

He is the One˺ Who created death and life in order to test which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Almighty, All-Forgiving. 67:2

“It is they [Wrongdoers] who will have nothing in the Hereafter except the Fire. Their efforts in this life will be fruitless and their deeds will be useless. 11:16

Thus, in whatever position he is in, he will strive to work according to the book and mandate of Allah preaching justice, equity, welfare and peace for all.

These facets of submission to Allah and being a Muslim has been highlighted even in the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh Holy Book.

“It is difficult to be called a Muslim; if one is truly a Muslim, then he may be called one. First, let him savor the religion of the Prophet as sweet; then, let his pride of his possessions be scraped away. Becoming a true Muslim, a disciple of the faith of Mohammed, let him put aside the delusion of death and life. As he submits to God’s Will, and surrenders to the Creator, he is rid of selfishness and conceit. And when, O Nanak, he is merciful to all beings, only then shall he be called a Muslim.” (Guru Granth Sahib 141:10-12)

Thus, being cognizant of the existence of the Almighty God at all times in everything one does for himself and for others is the true Islamic way of life.

And that’s the reason Muslims say Bismillah (in the name of God) before doing any work and Alhamdulillah (thanks to God) after completing any work implying that everything is for the sake of God alone.

Definitions of God in Holy Quran

He is the First and the Last, the Most High and Most Near, and He has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things – Holy Quran 57:3

He is Allah – there is no god worthy of worship except Him: Knower of the seen and unseen. He is the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. Al-Quran 59:22

He is Allah- there is no god except Him: the King, the Most Holy, the All-Perfect, the Source of Serenity, the Watcher of all, the Almighty, the Supreme in Might, the Majestic. Glorified is Allah far above what they associate with Him in worship! Al-Quran 59:23

He is Allah: the Creator, the Inventor, the Shaper. He alone has the Most Beautiful Names. Whatever is in the heavens and the earth constantly glorifies Him. And He is the Almighty, All-Wise. Al-Quran 59:23

He reigns supreme over His creation. And He is the All-Wise, All-Aware. 6:18

He ˹is the One Who˺ gives life and causes death, and to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned. 10:56

Creator of the Heavens and Earth

The Holy Quran declares that Allah is the creator of heavens and Earth and all that exists in between them and beyond them.

In other words, Allah is the supreme creator and lord of each and everything that exists.

The originator of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, “Be,” and it is. Al-Quran 2:117

To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and He is the Most High, the Most Great. Al-Quran 42:4

It is He who created you from dust, then from a drop of fluid, then from a tiny, clinging form, then He brought you forth as infants, then He allowed you to reach maturity, then He let you grow old though some of you die sooner and reach your appointed term so that you may reflect. It is He who gives life and death, and when He ordains a thing, He says only, ‘Be!’ and it is. Al-Quran 40:67

He gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, “Be,” and it is. Al-Quran 40:68

They say, “Allah has offspring”,Glory be to Him! In fact, to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth—all are subject to His Will. Holy Quran 2:116

Your Lord is the Self-Sufficient, Full of Mercy. If He wills, He can do away with you and replace you with whoever He wills, just as He produced you from the offspring of other people. 6:133

God is one

Your God is ˹only˺ One God. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful. 2:163

Say, “What has been revealed to me is this: ‘Your God is only One God.’ Will you then submit?” 21:108

Your God is ˹only˺ One God. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are in denial, and they are too proud. 16:22

And Allah has said, “Do not take two gods. There is only One God. So be in awe of Me ˹alone˺.” 16:51

Those who say, “Allah is one in a Trinity,” have certainly fallen into disbelief. There is only One God. If they do not stop saying this, those who disbelieve among them will be afflicted with a painful punishment. 5:73

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I am only a man like you, ˹but˺ it has been revealed to me that your God is only One God. So take the Straight Way towards Him, and seek His forgiveness. And woe to the polytheists. 41:6

No other God except Allah

Holy Quran reiterates on numerous occasions that there is no power or deity except Allah who is ever-living and sustainer of existence.

There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Holy Quran 3:2

It is He who forms you in the wombs however He wills. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Al-Quran 3:6

Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and so do the angels and those of knowledge – that He is maintaining creation in justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Al-Quran 3:18

Indeed, this is the true narration. And there is no deity except Allah. And indeed, Allah is the Exalted in Might, the Wise. Al-Quran 3:62

He is the Ever-Living. There is no deity save Him. So pray to Him, making religion pure for Him only. Praise be to God, the Lord of the Universe! (Al-Quran 40:65)

Say, ‘I have been forbidden to invoke those whom you invoke besides God seeing that clear signs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the Universe. Al-Quran 40:66

He is Allah – there is no god except Him: the King, the Most Holy, the All-Perfect, the Source of Serenity, the Watcher of all, the Almighty, the Supreme in Might, the Majestic. Glorified is Allah far above what they associate with Him ˹in worship! Al-Quran 59:23

He unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth, He hath chosen no son nor hath He any partner in the Sovereignty. He hath created everything and hath meted out for it a measure. Holy Quran 25:2

Yet they have taken besides Him gods who cannot create anything but are themselves created. Nor can they protect or benefit themselves. Nor can they control life, death, or resurrection. Holy Quran 25:3

Our Lord! We have heard the caller to ˹true˺ belief, ˹proclaiming,˺ ‘Believe in your Lord ˹alone˺,’ so we believed. Our Lord! Forgive our sins, absolve us of our misdeeds, and allow us ˹each˺ to die as one of the virtuous. Holy Quran 3:193

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon the servants He has chosen.” ˹Ask the disbelievers,˺ “Which is better: Allah or whatever ˹gods˺ they associate ˹with Him˺?” 27:59

Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who created the heavens and the earth, and sends down rain for you from the sky, by which We cause delightful gardens to grow? You could never cause their trees to grow. Was it another god besides Allah?” Absolutely not! But they are a people who set up equals ˹to Allah˺! 27:60

Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who made the earth a place of settlement, caused rivers to flow through it, placed firm mountains upon it, and set a barrier between ˹fresh and salt˺ bodies of water? Was it another god besides Allah?” Absolutely not! But most of them do not know. 27:61

Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who responds to the distressed when they cry to Him, relieving ˹their˺ affliction, and ˹Who˺ makes you successors in the earth? Is it another god besides Allah? Yet you are hardly mindful!” 27:62

Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who guides you in the darkness of the land and sea, and sends the winds ushering in His mercy? Is it another god besides Allah? Exalted is Allah above what they associate ˹with Him˺! 27:63

Or ˹ask them,˺ “Who originates the creation then resurrects it, and gives you provisions from the heavens and the earth? Is it another god besides Allah?” Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Show ˹me˺ your proof, if what you say is true.” 27:64

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “None in the heavens and the earth has knowledge of the unseen except Allah. Nor do they know when they will be resurrected. 27:65

No! Their knowledge of the Hereafter amounts to ignorance. In fact, they are in doubt about it. In truth, they are ˹totally˺ blind to it. 27:66

Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom are you mindful! 7:3

They have taken their rabbis and monks as well as the Messiah, son of Mary, as lords besides Allah, even though they were commanded to worship none but One God.There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. Glorified is He above what they associate ˹with Him˺! 9:31

The Messiah, son of Mary, was no more than a messenger. ˹Many˺ messengers had ˹come and˺ gone before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They both ate food. See how We make the signs clear to them, yet see how they are deluded ˹from the truth˺! Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “How can you worship besides Allah those who can neither harm nor benefit you? And Allah ˹alone˺ is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.” Say, “O People of the Book! Do not go to extremes in your faith beyond the truth, nor follow the vain desires of those who went astray before ˹you˺. They misled many and strayed from the Right Way.” 5:75–77

They ask you ˹O Prophet˺ regarding the ultimate Hour, “When will it be?” Say, “That knowledge is only with my Lord. He alone will reveal it when the time comes. It is too tremendous for the heavens and the earth and will only take you by surprise.” They ask you as if you had full knowledge of it. Say, “That knowledge is only with Allah, but most people do not know.” Say, “I have no power to benefit or protect myself, except by the Will of Allah. If I had known the unknown, I would have benefited myself enormously, and no harm would have ever touched me. I am only a warner and deliverer of good news for those who believe.” 7:187-188

Certainly to Allah ˹alone˺ belong all those in the heavens and all those on the earth. And what do those who associate others with Allah really follow? They follow nothing but assumptions and do nothing but lie. 10:66

This ˹Quran˺ is a ˹sufficient˺ message for humanity so that they may take it as a warning and know that there is only One God, and so that people of reason may be mindful. 14:53

Names of God in Islam

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Compassionate—whichever you call, He has the Most Beautiful Names.” Do not recite your prayers too loudly or silently, but seek a way between. Quran 17:110

insey kaho, Allah kehkar pukaro ya rehman kehkar, jis naam se bhi pukaro uske liye sab acchey hi naam hain aur apni namaz na bahut zyada buland aawaz se padho aur na bahut past aawaz se, in dono ke darmiyan awsat darje ka lehja ikhtiyar karo. 17:110

And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colours. Surely in this are signs for those of ˹sound˺ knowledge. 30:22

Aur uski nishaniyon mein se aasmaano aur zameen ki paidaish, aur tumhari zubaano aur tumhare rangon (colors) ka ikhtilaf hai. Yaqeenan is mein bahut si nishaniyan hain daanishmand (wise) logon ke liye 30:22

O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware. 49:13

Logon, humne tumko ek Mard aur ek Aurat se paida kiya aur phir tumhari qaumein aur biradariyan bana di taa-ke tum ek dusre ko pehchano. Dar haqeeqat Allah ke nazdeek tum mein sab se zyada izzat wala woh hai jo tumhare andar sab se zyada parheizgaar hai. Yaqeenan Allah sab kuch jaan-ne wala aur baakhabar hai. 49:13

Etymological comparison of the name Allah with names of God with similar attributes in other languages

  • Allah: The etymology of the word Allāh has been discussed extensively by classical Arab philologists. Most considered it to be derived from a contraction of the Arabic definite article al– and ilāh “deity, god” to al-lāh meaning “the deity, the God” (compare with Sanskrit Par + Brahma =ParbrahmaMaha + Dev = Mahadev i.e.The/Great + Deity/God; Maha + Ishwar = Maheshwar). In Islam, Allah is the unique, omnipotent and only deity and creator of the universe and is equivalent to God in other Abrahamic religions.
  • ar-Rahman: Translated as the Merciful. Narrated ‘Aisha (r): The Prophet said, “The word ‘Ar-Rahm’ (womb) derives its name from ‘Ar-Rahman’ (i.e. Allah). So whosoever keeps good relations with it (womb i.e. Kith and kin), Allah will keep good relations with him, and whosoever will sever it (i.e. severs his bonds of Kith and kin) Allah too will sever His relations with him. Sahih Bukhari Volume 8, Book 73, Number 18
  • BRahman (Sanskrit: ब्रह्मन्; IAST: Brahman) It from stems brha (to make firm, strong, expand) + Sanskrit -man- which denotes some manifest form of “definite power, inherent firmness, supporting or fundamental principle”. It connotes the highest universal principle, the Ultimate Reality of the universe. In major schools of Hindu philosophy, it is the non-physical, efficient, formal and final cause of all that exists. It is the pervasive, infinite, eternal truth, consciousness and bliss which does not change, yet is the cause of all changes. Brahman as a metaphysical concept refers to the single binding unity behind diversity in all that exists.(Wikipedia). However some interpretation of this word may also be against Islamic understanding of God. For instance, aham brahmāsmi, ayam ātmā brahma, tat tvam asi, prajnānam brahma, etc
  • Rāma is a Vedic Sanskrit word with two contextual meanings. In one context, as found in Atharva Veda, as stated by Monier Monier-Williams, it means “dark, dark-colored, black” and is related to the term ratri, which means night. In another context in other Vedic texts, the word means “pleasing, delightful, charming, beautiful, lovely” (Wikipedia)
  • Bhagavān, nominative singular of the adjective Bhagavat, literally means “fortunate”, “blessed” (from the noun bhaga, meaning “fortune”, “wealth”), and hence “illustrious”, “divine”, “venerable”, “holy”, etc. (Wikipedia)
  • Parameshvara (IAST: Parameśvara, Sanskrit: परमेश्वर) is an epithet used in Sanskrit literature. The term usually indicates the Supreme Being and Supreme Reality. However, the word nowadays has also acquired idolistic connotations when used for Kings, Vishnu, Shiv, etc (Wikipedia)
  • Yahweh: The god’s name was written in paleo-Hebrew as 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (יהוה‎ in block script), transliterated as YHWH; modern scholarship has reached consensus to transcribe this as “Yahweh”.

Everything Perishable except Allah

And do not invoke any other god with Allah. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. Everything is bound to perish except He Himself. All authority belongs to Him. And to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned. 28:88

Aur Allah ke saath kisi dusre mabood ko na pukaro. Uske siwa koi mabood nahin hai. Har cheez halaak honay wali hai siwaye uski zaat ke. Farman rawayi usi ki hai aur usi ki taraf tum sab paltaye janey waley ho 28:88

No Idols of God

O believers! Intoxicants, gambling, idols, and drawing lots for decisions are all evil of Satan’s handiwork. So shun them so you may be successful. 5:90

And ˹remember˺ when Abraham said to his father, Ȃzar, “Do you take idols as gods? It is clear to me that you and your people are entirely misguided.” 6:74

˹Remember˺ when Abraham prayed, “My Lord! Make this city ˹of Mecca˺ secure, and keep me and my children away from the worship of idols. 14:35

He threatened, “How dare you reject my idols, O  Abraham! If you do not desist, I will certainly stone you ˹to death˺. So be gone from me for a long time!”

Do they associate ˹with Allah˺ those ˹idols˺ which cannot create anything, but are in fact created; 7:191

But those ˹idols˺ they invoke besides Allah cannot create anything—they themselves are created. 16:20

Have you ˹O Prophet˺ not seen those who were given a portion of the Scriptures yet believe in idols and false gods and reassure the disbelievers that they are better guided than the believers? 4:51

We brought the Children of Israel across the sea and they came upon a people devoted to idols. They demanded, “O Moses! Make for us a god like their gods.” He replied, “Indeed, you are a people acting ignorantly! 7:138

You worship besides Allah nothing but idols, simply creating lies ˹about them˺. Those you worship besides Allah certainly cannot give you any provision. So seek provision from Allah ˹alone˺, worship Him, and be grateful to Him. To Him you will ˹all˺ be returned. 29:17

Continue to˺ shun idols. 74:5

There the deviant will cry while disputing with their idols. 26:96

Then the idols will be hurled headlong into Hell, along with the deviant 26:94

˹Then he said to himself,˺ “By Allah! I will surely plot against your idols after you have turned your backs and gone away.” 21:57

Owner of Sovereignty and Honour

As per Holy Quran, Allah is the sole owner of sovereignty and honor. He bestows it whomever he wants and that he is competent over all things.

Say, “O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will. You honor whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over and above all things competent. Al-Quran 3:26

Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth ˹constantly˺ glorifies Allah – the King, the Most Holy, the Almighty, the All-Wise. Holy Quran 62:1

If it is His Will, He can remove you altogether, O  humanity, and replace you with others. And Allah is Most Capable to do so. 4:133

Do you not know that the kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah ˹alone˺? He punishes whoever He wills and forgives whoever He wills. And Allah is Most Capable of everything. 5:40

Do not let their words grieve you ˹O Prophet˺. Surely all honour and power belongs to Allah. He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 10:65

Above and Beyond all Comprehension

No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things. Al-Quran 6:103

To Allah belong the east and the west, so wherever you turn you are facing ˹towards˺ Allah. Surely Allah is All-Encompassing, All-Knowing. Holy Quran 2:115

Narrated Masruq: Aisha (RA) said, “If anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen his Lord, he is a liar, for Allah says: ‘No vision can grasp Him.’ (6.103) And if anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen the Unseen, he is a liar, for Allah says: “None has the knowledge of the Unseen but Allah.” Sahih al-Bukhari-Vol. 9, Book 93, Hadith 477

They ask ˹the believers˺, “When will this threat come to pass if what you say is true?” 10:48

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I have no power to benefit or protect myself, except by the Will of Allah.” For each community there is an appointed term. When their time arrives, they cannot delay it for a moment, nor could they advance it. 10:49

Tell them ˹O Prophet˺, “Imagine if His torment were to overcome you by night or day—do the wicked realize what they are ˹really˺ asking Him to hasten? 10:50

They say, “Allah has offspring.” Glory be to Him! He is the Self-Sufficient. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. You have no proof of this! Do you say about Allah what you do not know? 10:68

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Indeed, those who fabricate lies against Allah will never succeed.” 10:69

˹It is only˺ a brief enjoyment in this world, then to Us is their return, then We will make them taste the severe punishment for their disbelief. 10:70

Nothing is Hidden from Allah

Indeed, from Allah nothing is hidden in the earth nor in the heaven. Al-Quran 3:5

Say, “Whether you conceal what is in your hearts or reveal it, Allah knows it. And He knows that which is in the heavens and that which is on the earth. And Allah is over all things competent. Al-Quran 3:29

There is no activity you may be engaged in ˹O Prophet˺ or portion of the Quran you may be reciting, nor any deed you ˹all˺ may be doing except that We are a Witness over you while doing it. Not ˹even˺ an atom’s weight is hidden from your Lord on earth or in heaven; nor anything smaller or larger than that, but is ˹written˺ in a perfect Record. 10:61

Your Lord knows best what is within yourselves. If you are righteous, He is certainly All-Forgiving to those who ˹constantly˺ turn to Him. 17:25

Whether you reveal something or conceal it, surely Allah has ˹perfect˺ knowledge of all things. Holy Quran 33:54

Eternal and Absolute Master

Holy Quran says that Allah alone is the internal and absolute master of the whole universe.

Everything other than Allah is mortal and perishable. Holy Quran also provides that while Allah is self-sufficient, every other thing is dependent on him.

Say: He is Allah, the One and Only; Allah, the Eternal, Absolute master; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him. Holy Quran 112:1-4

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Most Capable of everything. (Wa Lillahi Mulkus-samawati wal Ard. Wallahu ala kulli shayyin Qadeer) Holy Quran 3:189

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is Fully Aware of everything. 4:126

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Indeed, We have commanded those given the Scripture before you, as well as you, to be mindful of Allah. But if you disobey, then ˹know that˺ to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. And Allah is Self-Sufficient, Praiseworthy. 4:131

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is sufficient as a Trustee of Affairs. ( Wa Lillahi ma fissamawati wa ma fil ard. Wa kafa bi Allahi waqeela). Holy Quran 4:132

If it is His Will, He can remove you altogether, O  humanity, and replace you with others. And Allah is Most Capable to do so. 4:133

Every being on earth is bound to perish. Only your Lord Himself, full of Majesty and Honour, will remain forever. Holy Quran 55:26-27

All those in the heavens and the earth are dependent on Him. Day in and day out He has something to bring about. Holy Quran 55:29

Ask ˹them, O  Prophet˺, “To whom belongs everything in the heavens and the earth?” Say, “To Allah!” He has taken upon Himself to be Merciful. He will certainly gather ˹all of˺ you together for the Day of Judgment—about which there is no doubt. But those who have ruined themselves will never believe. 6:12

To Him belongs whatever exists in the day and night. And He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 6:13

He reigns supreme over His creation. And He is the All-Wise, All-Aware. 6:18

Surely to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Surely Allah’s promise is ˹always˺ true, but most of them do not know. 10:55

He ˹is the One Who˺ gives life and causes death, and to Him you will ˹all˺ be returned. 10:56

What are the Signs of Allah?

Those who do not know say, “Why does Allah not speak to us or there come to us a sign?” Thus spoke those before them like their words. Their hearts resemble each other. We have shown clearly the signs to people who are certain [in faith]. Al-Quran 2:118

وَلَقَد تَّرَكْنَا مِنْهَآ ءَايَةًۢ بَيِّنَةًۭ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَعْقِلُونَ ٣٥

And We have certainly left of it a sign as clear evidence for a people who use reason. Al-Quran 29:35

Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people, and what Allah has sent down from the heavens of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature, and [His] directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between the heaven and earth are signs for a people who use reason. Al-Quran 2:164

And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for people who reason. Al-Quran 16:12

And within the land are neighboring plots and gardens of grapevines and crops and palm trees, [growing] several from a root or otherwise, watered with one water; but We make some of them exceed others in [quality of] fruit. Indeed in that are signs for people who reason. Al-Quran 13:4

So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded but blinded are the hearts that are within the heart. Al-Quran 22:46

And of His signs is that He created you from dust; then, suddenly you were human beings dispersing [throughout the earth]. Al-Quran 30:20

And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them, and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. Al-Quran 30:21

And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variations in your languages and your colors: verily in that are Signs for those who know. Al-Quran 30:22

And among His Signs is the sleep that ye take by night and by the day, and the quest that ye (make for livelihood) out of His Bounty: verily in that are signs for those who hearken. Al-Quran 30:23

And among His Signs, He shows you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope, and He sends down rain from the sky and with it gives life to the earth after it is dead: verily in that are Signs for those who are wise. Al-Quran 30:24

And among His Signs is this, that heaven and earth stand by His Command: then when He calls you, by a single call, from the earth, behold, ye (straightway) come forth. And to Him belongs every being that is in the heavens and on earth: all are devoutly obedient to Him. Al-Quran 30:25

How can you disbelieve in Allah when you were lifeless and he brought you to life, then he will cause you to die, then he will bring you back to life, and then to Him, you will be returned. Al-Quran 2:28

Have they failed to look at the earth, ˹to see˺ how many types of fine plants We have caused to grow in it? Surely in this is a sign. Yet most of them would not believe. Holy Quran 26:7-8

Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the day and night there are signs for people of reason. Holy Quran 3:190

˹They are˺ those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth ˹and pray˺, “Our Lord! You have not created ˹all of˺ this without purpose. Glory be to You! Protect us from the torment of the Fire. Holy Quran 3:191

Who does more wrong than those who fabricate lies against Allah or deny His signs? Indeed, the wrongdoers will never succeed. 6:21

Whenever a sign comes to them, they say, “We will never believe until we receive what Allah’s messengers received.” Allah knows best where to place His message. The wicked will soon be overwhelmed by humiliation from Allah and a severe punishment for their evil plots. 6:124

Whoever Allah wills to guide, He opens their heart to Islam. But whoever He wills to leave astray, He makes their chest tight and constricted as if they were climbing up into the sky. This is how Allah dooms those who disbelieve. 6:125

That is your Lord’s Path—perfectly straight. We have already made the signs clear to those who are mindful. 6:126

They will have the Home of Peace with their Lord, Who will be their Guardian because of what they used to do. 6:127

We have indeed established you on earth and provided you with a means of livelihood. ˹Yet˺ you seldom give any thanks. 7:10

He is the One Who has made the night for you to rest in and the day bright. Surely in this are signs for people who listen. 10:67

قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ٦٩

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Travel throughout the land and see the fate of the wicked.” 27:69 (Kaho, zara zameen mein chal phir kar dekho ke mujreemo ka kya anjaam ho chuka hai)

There is no other Protector except Allah

And those who take as protectors others besides Him, Allah doth watch over them; and thou art not the disposer of their affairs. Al-Quran 42:7

[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. Al-Quran 42:11

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is, of all things, Knowing. Al-Quran 42:12

It is Allah Who has sent down the Book in Truth, and the Balance (by which to weigh conduct). And what will make thee realize that perhaps the Hour is close at hand? Al-Quran 42:17

Gracious is Allah to His servants: He gives Sustenance to whom He pleases: and He has power and can carry out His Will. Al-Quran 42:19

If Allah touches you with harm, none can undo it except Him. And if He touches you with a blessing, He is Most Capable of everything. 6:17

Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom are you mindful! 7:3

Guidance of Allah

And never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion. Say, “Indeed, the guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance.” If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper. Al-Quran 2:120

˹Remember, O  Prophet,˺ when Allah took the covenant of those who were given the Scripture to make it known to people and not hide it, yet they cast it behind their backs and traded it for a fleeting gain. What a miserable profit! Holy Quran 3:187

Holy Quran: The Message of Allah

O humanity! Indeed, there has come to you a warning from your Lord, a cure for what is in the hearts, a guide, and a mercy for the believers. 10:57

And for every community there is a messenger. After their messenger has come, judgment is passed on them in all fairness, and they are not wronged. 10:47

Indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is the recitation of a noble Messenger. 69:40

It is not the prose of a poet ˹as you claim˺, ˹yet˺ you hardly have any faith. 69:41

Nor is it the mumbling of a fortune-teller, ˹yet˺ you are hardly mindful. 69:42

˹It is˺ a revelation from the Lord of all worlds. 69:43

Had the Messenger made up something in Our Name, We would have certainly seized him by his right hand, then severed his aorta, and none of you could have shielded him ˹from Us˺! 69:44-47

Indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is a reminder to those mindful ˹of Allah˺. 69:48

And We certainly know that some of you will persist in denial, and it will surely be a source of regret for the disbelievers. 69:49-50

And indeed, this ˹Quran˺ is the absolute truth. So glorify the Name of your Lord, the Greatest. 69:51-52

It is not ˹possible˺ for this Quran to have been produced by anyone other than Allah. In fact, it is a confirmation of what came before, and an explanation of the Scripture. It is, without a doubt, from the Lord of all worlds. 10:37

Or do they claim, “He made it up!”? Tell them ˹O Prophet˺, “Produce one surah like it then, and seek help from whoever you can—other than Allah—if what you say is true!” 10:38

In fact, they ˹hastily˺ rejected the Book without comprehending it and before the fulfilment of its warnings. Similarly, those before them were in denial. See then what was the end of the wrongdoers! 10:39

Some of them will ˹eventually˺ believe in it; others will not. And your Lord knows best the corruptors. 10:40

If they deny you, then say, “My deeds are mine and your deeds are yours. You are free of what I do and I am free of what you do!” 10:41

Some of them listen to what you say, but can you make the deaf hear even though they do not understand? 10:42

And some of them look at you, but can you guide the blind even though they cannot see? 10:43

Indeed, Allah does not wrong people in the least, but it is people who wrong themselves. 10:44

Prophets & Messengers of Allah

And for every community there is a messenger. After their messenger has come, judgment is passed on them in all fairness, and they are not wronged. 10:47

Relate to them ˹O Prophet˺ the story of Noah when he said to his people, “O my People! If my presence and my reminders to you of Allah’s signs are unbearable to you, then ˹know that˺ I have put my trust in Allah. So devise a plot along with your associate-gods—and you do not have to be secretive about your plot—then carry it out against me without delay! 10:71

And if you turn away, ˹remember˺ I have never demanded a reward from you ˹for delivering the message˺. My reward is only from Allah. And I have been commanded to be one of those who submit ˹to Allah˺.” 10:72

But they still rejected him, so We saved him and those with him in the Ark and made them successors, and drowned those who rejected Our signs. See then what was the end of those who had been warned! 10:73

Then after him We sent ˹other˺ messengers to their ˹own˺ people and they came to them with clear proofs. But they would not believe in what they had rejected before. This is how We seal the hearts of the transgressors. 10:74

Then after these ˹messengers˺ We sent Moses and Aaron to Pharaoh and his chiefs with Our signs. But they behaved arrogantly and were a wicked people. 10:75

When the truth came to them from Us, they said, “This is certainly pure magic!” 10:76

Moses responded, “Is this what you say about the truth when it has come to you? Is this magic? Magicians will never succeed.” 10:77

They argued, “Have you come to turn us away from the faith of our forefathers so that the two of you may become supreme in the land? We will never believe in you!” 10:78

Pharaoh demanded, “Bring me every skilled magician.” 10:79

When the magicians came, Moses said to them, “Cast whatever you wish to cast!” 10:80

When they did, Moses said, “What you have produced is mere magic, Allah will surely make it useless, for Allah certainly does not set right the work of the corruptors. 10:81

And Allah establishes the truth by His Words—even to the dismay of the wicked.” 10:82

But no one believed in Moses except a few youths of his people, while fearing that Pharaoh and their own chiefs might persecute them. And certainly Pharaoh was a tyrant in the land, and he was truly a transgressor. 10:83

Moses said, “O my people! If you do believe in Allah and submit ˹to His Will˺, then put your trust in Him.” 10:84

They replied, “In Allah we trust. Our Lord! Do not subject us to the persecution of the oppressive people, 10:85

and deliver us by Your mercy from the disbelieving people.” 10:86

We revealed to Moses and his brother, “Appoint houses for your people in Egypt. Turn these houses into places of worship, establish prayer, and give good news to the believers!” 10:87

Moses prayed, “Our Lord! You have granted Pharaoh and his chiefs luxuries and riches in this worldly life, ˹which they abused˺ to lead people astray from Your Way! Our Lord, destroy their riches and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment.” 10:88

Allah responded ˹to Moses and Aaron˺,1 “Your prayer is answered! So be steadfast and do not follow the way of those who do not know.” 10:89

We brought the Children of Israel across the sea. Then Pharaoh and his soldiers pursued them unjustly and oppressively. But as Pharaoh was drowning, he cried out, “I believe that there is no god except that in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am ˹now˺ one of those who submit.” 10:90

˹He was told,˺ “Now ˹you believe˺? But you always disobeyed and were one of the corruptors. 10:91

Today We will preserve your corpse so that you may become an example for those who come after you. And surely most people are heedless of Our examples!” 10:92

Indeed, We settled the Children of Israel in a blessed land, and granted them good, lawful provisions. They did not differ until knowledge came to them. Surely your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Judgment regarding their differences. 10:93

If you ˹O Prophet˺ are in doubt about ˹these stories˺ that We have revealed to you, then ask those who read the Scripture before you. The truth has certainly come to you from your Lord, so do not be one of those who doubt, 10:94

and do not be one of those who deny Allah’s signs or you will be one of the losers. 10:95

Allah is Swift in Taking Account

Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam. And those who were given the Scripture did not differ except after knowledge had come to them – out of jealous animosity between themselves. And whoever disbelieves in the verses of Allah, then indeed, Allah is swift in taking account. Al-Quran 3:19

Indeed, Allah has heard those ˹among the Jews˺ who said, “Allah is poor; we are rich!” We have certainly recorded their slurs and their killing of prophets unjustly. Then We will say, “Taste the torment of burning! Holy Quran 3:181

This is ˹the reward˺ for what your hands have done. And Allah is never unjust to ˹His˺ creation.” Holy Quran 3:182

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Indeed, those who fabricate lies against Allah will never succeed.” 10:69

˹It is only˺ a brief enjoyment in this world, then to Us is their return, then We will make them taste the severe punishment for their disbelief. 10:70

Allah Pardons whomever He Wishes

To Allah ˹alone˺ belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He forgives whoever He wills, and punishes whoever He wills. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 48:14

Do you not know that the kingdom of the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah ˹alone˺? He punishes whoever He wills and forgives whoever He wills. And Allah is Most Capable of everything. 5:40

And it is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do. Al-Quran 42:25

And He listens to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, and gives them increase of His Bounty: but for the Unbelievers there is a terrible Penalty. Al-Quran 42:26

He is the One that sends down rain (even) after (men) have given up all hope, and scatters His Mercy (far and wide). And He is the Protector, Worthy of all Praise. Al Quran 42:28

And of his signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent. Al Quran 42:29

Whatever misfortune happens to you is because of the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. Al Quran 42:29

So their Lord responded to them: “I will never deny any of you—male or female—the reward of your deeds. Both are equal in reward. Those who migrated or were expelled from their homes, and were persecuted for My sake and fought and ˹some˺ were martyred—I will certainly forgive their sins and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, as a reward from Allah. And with Allah is the finest reward!” Holy Quran 3:195

Indeed, Allah does not wrong people in the least, but it is people who wrong themselves. 10:44

Best Arbiter of Affairs

O believers! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. Should you disagree on anything, then refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you ˹truly˺ believe in Allah and the Last Day. This is the best and fairest resolution. 4:59

And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And sufficient is Allah as disposer. Holy Quran 4:132

Those who were warned, “Your enemies have mobilized their forces against you, so fear them,” the warning only made them grow stronger in faith and they replied, “For us Allah is sufficient and he is the best disposer of affairs”. Holy Quran 3:173

Can Human Beings see Allah?

Narrated Masruq: `Aisha said, “If anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen his Lord, he is a liar, for Allah says: ‘No vision can grasp Him.’ (6.103) And if anyone tells you that Muhammad has seen the Unseen, he is a liar, for Allah says: “None has the knowledge of the Unseen but Allah.” Sahih al-Bukhari-Vol. 9, Book 93, Hadith 477

Narrated Jarir bin `Abdullah: The Prophet (s) said, “You will definitely see your Lord with your own eyes.” Sahih al-Bukhari-Vol. 9, Book 93, Hadith 530

Narrated `Adi bin Hatim: Allah’s Messenger (s) said, “There will be none among you but his Lord will speak to him, and there will be no interpreter between them nor a screen to screen Him.” Sahih al-Bukhari-Vol. 9, Book 93, Hadith 535

Abu Hurairah said : The people asked : Messenger of Allah! Shall we see our Lord, the Exalted, on the Day of resurrection? He replied: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the sun at noon when it is not in the cloud? They said: No. He asked: Do you feel any trouble in seeing the moon on the night when it is full and not in the cloud? They replied: No. He said: By him in whose hand my soul is, you will not feel any trouble in seeing him except as much as you feel in seeing any of them. Sunan Abi Dawud 4730

Narrated Abu Razin al-Uqayli: I asked: Messenger of Allah! will each one of us see his Lord? Ibn Mu’adh’s version has: “being alone with Him, on the Day of Resurrection? And what sign is there is His creation?” He replied: AbuRazin! does each one of you not see the moon? Ibn Mu’adh’s version has: “on the night when it is full, being alone with it?” Then the agreed version goes: I said: Yes. He said: Allah is greater. Ibn Mu’adh’s version has: It is only part of Allah’s creation, but Allah is more glorious and greater. Sunan Abi Dawud 4731

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth. He extends provision for whomsoever He wills, and straitens (it for whomsoever He wills). Surely He is All-Knowing in respect of everything. Al-Quran 42:12

Doing things for the Sake of Allah

O believers! Patiently endure, persevere, stand on guard, and be mindful of Allah, so you may be successful. Holy Quran 3:200

قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِى وَنُسُكِى وَمَحْيَاىَ وَمَمَاتِى لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ ١٦٢

Say, “Surely my prayer, my worship, my life, and my death are all for Allah—Lord of all worlds. 6:162

Narrated Abu Umamah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone loves for Allah’s sake, hates for Allah’s sake, gives for Allah’s sake, and withholds for Allah’s sake, he will have perfect faith. Sunan Abi Dawud 4681

Sahl bin Mu’adh [bin Anas] Al-Juhni narrated from his father that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Whoever gives for the sake of Allah, withholds for the sake of Allah, loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, and marries for the sake of Allah, he has indeed perfected his faith.” Jami`at-Tirmidhi Vol. 4, Book 11, Hadith 2521

It was narrated that ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Messenger of Allah said: “Actions are but by intentions, and each man will have but that which he intended. Whoever emigrated for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, his emigration was for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, and whoever emigrated for the sake of some worldly gain or to marry some woman, his emigration was for that for which he emigrated.” Sunan an-Nasa’i 3437

Narrated Aisha: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) never took revenge for his own self in any matter presented to him till Allah’s limits were exceeded, in which case he would take revenge for Allah’s sake. Sahih al-Bukhari 6853

Narrated Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You will be rewarded for whatever you spend for Allah’s sake even if it were a morsel which you put in your wife’s mouth.” Sahih al-Bukhari 56

Mu’adh bin Jabal narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: “Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, said: ‘Those who love each other for the sake of My Majesty shall be upon podiums of light, and they will be admired by the Prophets and the martyrs.'” Jami`at-Tirmidhi 2390

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: ‘There are three things, whoever attains them will find therein the sweetness of faith: When Allah [SWT], the Mighty and Sublime, and His Messenger [SAW] are dearer to him than all else; when he loves for the sake of Allah [SWT] and hates for the sake of Allah [SWT]; and when a huge fire be lit and he falls into it than associate anything with Allah [SWT].'” Sunan an-Nasa’i 4987

It was narrated from Abu Darda’ that my close friend (ﷺ) advised me: “Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are cut and burned. Do not neglect any prescribed prayer deliberately, for whoever neglects it deliberately no longer has the protection of Allah. And do not drink wine, for it is the key to all evil.” Sunan Ibn Majah 4034

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Verily. Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have a mutual love for My Glory’s sake? Today I shall shelter them in My shadow when there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine. Sahih Muslim 2566

Worshipping Allah Alone

Worship Allah ˹alone˺ and associate none with Him. And be kind to parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, near and distant neighbours, close friends, ˹needy˺ travellers, and those ˹bondspeople˺ in your possession. Surely Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful. Holy Quran 4:36

Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating others with Him ˹in worship˺, but forgives anything else of whoever He wills. And whoever associates others with Allah has indeed committed a grave sin. Holy Quran 4:48

Allah, there is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him. He will certainly gather ˹all of˺ you together on the Day of Judgment—about which there is no doubt. And whose word is more truthful than Allah’s? 4:87

Surely Allah does not forgive associating ˹others˺ with Him ˹in worship˺,1 but forgives anything else of whoever He wills. Indeed, whoever associates ˹others˺ with Allah has clearly gone far astray. 4:116

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Will I take any guardian other than Allah, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, Who provides for all and is not in need of provision?” Say, “I have been commanded to be the first to submit and not be one of the polytheists.” 6:14

Say, “I truly fear—if I were to disobey my Lord—the torment of a tremendous Day.” 6:15

˹Consider˺ the Day We will gather them all together then ask those who associated others ˹with Allah in worship˺, “Where are those gods you used to claim?” 6:22

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Should I seek a lord other than Allah while He is the Lord of everything?” No one will reap except what they sow. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of your differences. 6:164

Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom are you mindful! 7:3

Obedience to Allah

And when it is said to them, ‘Come to what God has sent down and to the Messenger.’ They reply, ‘The faith we have inherited from our fathers is sufficient for us.’ Even though their forefathers knew nothing and were not guided. Al-Quran 5:104

O you who believe! Do not take your fathers or your brothers as allies if they choose denial of truth in preference to faith. Those among you who ally themselves with them are wrongdoers. Say, ‘If your fathers and your sons and your brothers and your spouses and your tribe, and the worldly goods which you have acquired, and the commerce which you fear will decline, and the homes you love are dearer to you than God and His Messenger and the struggle for His cause, then wait until God fulfills His decree. God does not guide the disobedient people.’ Al-Quran 9:23-24

Musnad Ahmad 1065[Grade: Sahih (Darussalam), al-Bukhari (4340) and Muslim (1840)] (Darussalam)]: It was narrated from ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet (ﷺ) said: There is no obedience to any human being if it involves disobedience to Allah.

Say, “Surely my prayer, my worship, my life, and my death are all for Allah—Lord of all worlds. 6:162

Will of Allah

If you disbelieve, then ˹know that˺ Allah is truly not in need of you, nor does He approve of disbelief from His servants. But if you become grateful ˹through faith˺, He will appreciate that from you. No soul burdened with sin will bear the burden of another. Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you of what you used to do. He certainly knows best what is ˹hidden˺ in the heart. 39:7

Surely the ends you strive for are diverse. As for the one who is charitable, mindful ˹of Allah˺, and ˹firmly˺ believes in the finest reward, We will facilitate for them the Way of Ease. And as for the one who is stingy, indifferent ˹to Allah˺, and ˹staunchly˺ denies the finest reward, We will facilitate for them the path of hardship. And their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they tumble ˹into Hell˺. It is certainly upon Us ˹alone˺ to show ˹the way to˺ guidance. And surely to Us ˹alone˺ belong this life and the next. And so I have warned you of a raging Fire, in which none will burn except the most wretched— who deny and turn away. But the righteous will be spared from it— who donate ˹some of˺ their wealth only to purify themselves, not in return for someone’s favours, but seeking the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High. They will certainly be pleased. 92:4-21

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I have no power to benefit or protect myself, except by the Will of Allah.” For each community there is an appointed term. When their time arrives, they cannot delay it for a moment, nor could they advance it. 10:49

Allah Responds to People

Your only guardians are Allah, His Messenger, and fellow believers—who establish prayer and pay alms-tax with humility. 5:55

Whoever allies themselves with Allah, His Messenger, and fellow believers, then it is certainly Allah’s party that will prevail. 5:56

O believers! Do not seek the guardianship of those given the Scripture before you and the disbelievers who have made your faith a mockery and amusement. And be mindful of Allah if you are ˹truly˺ believers. 5:57

When you call to prayer, they mock it in amusement. This is because they are a people without understanding. 5:58

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “O People of the Book! Do you resent us only because we believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what was revealed before—while most of you are rebellious?” 5:59

When they come to you ˹believers˺ they say, “We believe.” But they are committed to disbelief when they enter and when they leave. And Allah knows what they hide. 5:61

You see many of them racing towards sin, transgression, and consumption of forbidden gain. Evil indeed are their actions! 5:62

All praise is for Allah Who created the heavens and the earth and made darkness and light. Yet the disbelievers set up equals to their Lord ˹in worship˺. 6:1

He reigns supreme over His creation. And He is the All-Wise, All-Aware. 6:18

The Word of your Lord has been perfected in truth and justice. None can change His Words. And He is the All-Hearing, All- Knowing. 6:115

That is your Lord’s Path—perfectly straight. We have already made the signs clear to those who are mindful. 6:126

Say, ˹O Prophet, “Surely my Lord has guided me to the Straight Path, a perfect way, the faith of Abraham, the upright, who was not one of the polytheists.” 6:161

Say, “Surely my prayer, my worship, my life, and my death are all for Allah—Lord of all worlds. 6:162

You cause the night to enter the day, and You cause the day to enter the night; and You bring the living out of the dead, and You bring the dead out of the living. And You give provision to whom You will without account.”

No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.
