National Tribal Research Institute (NTRI), New Delhi, and Bhartiya Adim Janjati Seva Sangathan (BAJSS) signed an MoU on Wednesday to develop BAJSS as a resource center of NTRI.
By making BAJSS the NTRI’s Resource Centre, the students, researchers, and visitors interested in tribal culture and history would be able to optimally use the facilities available in Delhi and coming generations will also come to know about rich cultural heritage.
The project has been undertaken under the guidance of the Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda, who visited the premises and had advised to develop the unique heritage as the resource center of the upcoming NTRI.
What is Bharatiya Adim Janajati Seva Sangathan?
Bharatiya Adim Janajati Seva Sangathan was established in 1948 by Thakkar Bapa, an eminent social worker for all-Inclusive and all-around upliftment of the tribal communities of India.
India’s first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad also happens to be the first chairman of BAJSS.
The BAJSS Institution building at Jhandewala has a collection of rare books in their library and a Museum with tribal artifacts.
Since Independence, several eminent personalities have been associated with BAJSS. They include U.N. Dhebar and Moraraji Desai and they all have offered their valuable services for the upliftment of the tribal community.
A total amount of Rs.150 Lakhs has been sanctioned by the Tribal Affairs Ministry for preservation and digitization of Rare Books in BAJSS Library and to develop it into an E-Library and for revamping of the tribal Museum, digitization of artifacts, and making interactive kiosks so as to preserve the unique cultural heritage.
