Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday requested Indians to celebrate festivals with harmony and restraint.
This becomes significant given the incidents of communal violence reported from all over the country during the recently concluded festivals like Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti.
In the 88th Episode of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, Prime Minister offered his advance greetings on the upcoming festivals Eid, Akshaya Tritiya, Vaishakh Budh Purnima, etc and requested people to celebrate them with harmony and restraint.
“All these festivals are festivals of restraint, purity, charity, and harmony. Advance greetings to all of you on the occasion of these festivals. Celebrate these festivals with great gaiety and harmony”, he said.
The PM also requested all to be mindful of the growing Covid-19 cases and to take necessary precautions and preventive measures.
“In the midst of all this, you also have to be alert to Corona. Wearing a mask, washing hands at regular intervals, whatever are the necessary measures for prevention, keep following them”, he said.
In his Mann ki Baat address earlier today, the Prime Minister spoke on a host of issues including the recently inaugurated Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, digital payment system, water conservation, and contributions of Indians to science and mathematics, etc.
