Indian Armed Forces on Wednesday launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, a precision military operation inside Pakistan. Ministry of Defence claimed that the strikes were aimed at “hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed”. The operation, carried out a short while ago, targeted nine key sites believed to be central to the planning and execution of recent terrorist attacks against India.
According to a Press Release by the Ministry of Defence, the strikes were focused, measured, and non-escalatory, with no Pakistani military facilities coming under attack. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution,” a senior government official said, emphasizing the limited and carefully calibrated nature of the response.
The operation follows the barbaric terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen were killed. The government reiterated its earlier vow that the perpetrators of the attack would be brought to justice.
“This is a continuation of our unwavering commitment to the safety of our citizens. Those responsible for the Pahalgam massacre will be held accountable,” reported PIB quoting Ministry of Defence.
While details of the precise locations targeted remain classified, defense analysts suggest the sites struck were known launch pads and logistical hubs used by anti-India outfits operating from across the Line of Control.
The international community is watching closely, as India maintains that its actions are rooted in the right to self-defense and are not intended to provoke escalation. Diplomatic channels remain open, and the Ministry of External Affairs is expected to brief foreign envoys shortly.
Further updates on Operation Sindoor are awaited.
