India’s Faith and Devotion lies in Idols, says PM Modi

The PM said that foreign countries have also realized that India's feelings and reverence lies in idols.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that India’s faith and devotion lies in idols, adding that his government has successfully brought back more than 200 stolen statues from foreign countries.

In his “Man ki Baat” address earlier today, the PM stressed the importance of idols and statutes to India saying that idols were always made in every nook and corner of the country.

The PM said that idols are not only a unique example of Indian sculpture but our faith is also attached to them.

Lamenting the theft and smuggling of Indian idols as pieces of artwork, the PM said that these idols contain an element of India’s soul.

While highlighting the religious, cultural, and historical importance of idols and statutes, the PM said that it is our responsibility towards Mother India to bring back these idols.

The PM said that foreign countries have also realized that India’s feelings and reverence lies in idols and hence have started cooperating with the Indian government to send back stolen idols.

He said further that America, Britain, Holland, France, Canada, Germany, Singapore, many such countries have understood this spirit of India and helped us to bring back the idols.

“This is an example of the changing world outlook towards India”, the PM added.
