1st Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award to be conferred on PM Narendra Modi

Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award has been instituted in memory of veteran Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar who died in February earlier this year.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to become the first recipient of the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for exemplary contribution toward nation-building.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s office says that the PM will visit Mumbai on Saturday to attend the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Awards Ceremony at around 5 PM.

On this occasion, Prime Minister will be conferred the 1st Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award.

Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award has been instituted in memory of Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar and will be given every year exclusively to one individual for an exemplary contribution toward nation-building.

It should be noted that the veteran Indian singer passed away on February 6, 2022, at the age of 92.

Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 28, 1929, to a Marathi and Konkani musician Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar.

From a very young age, she enthralled music lovers in India and across the globe with her mellifluous and sublime voice for several decades.

She ruled the Hindi Cinema like a Queen for several decades and has been the favorite and most sought-after female playback singer of music composers.

Lata Mangeshkar had been honored with dozens of other accolades and awards from India and abroad including Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award which she received in 2002.

She was also honored with the title of Officer of the French Legion of Honour, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Awards, and many more.
